The Sullivan SPCA works with a network of local shelters and rescue
organizations in the southern region to help puppies in urgent need of
rescue or relocation.
We are well known as a No-Kill shelter and a place where local, and now
regional puppies can find new loving homes. This gives our shelter the
opportunity to save some of the sweetest puppies and unite them with
homes looking for that special breed, mix or just a new puppy to love from
HOW DO RESCUE PUPPIES HELP THE LOCAL COMMUNITY?
1. Rescue puppies allow us to provide adoptable pets for families.
Puppies are in high demand for family pets in Sullivan County, and very
rarely are puppies released to the shelter from the local community.
2. Traffic in our front door. More adopting families visit the shelter when
puppies are available. Everyone loves a cute puppy, but sometimes families
leave with an older, mature dog. People may visit for a look at the puppies,
but fall in love with a fun, mature dog.
3. Allows space for mature dogs in kennels. Since puppies do not take
kennel space from older dogs, NO KENNEL SPACE is sacrificed for the
puppies. This keeps our adoptions moving and helps manage open space in
kennels for more local, mature dogs that need help. Arriving puppies have
their own group area to play and visit.
Since rescue efforts are not planned or scheduled, we can not predict when
we will need your help to find new homes. If there are photos posted
below, we are coordinating transportation for a limited number of rescued
